Softball

During the summer, our church plays softball with other congregations in our city's church softball league. It's been a lot of fun to go to the games. If we tell the kids we are going to the softball fields, they dance around the house, merrily singing. "Yay! Softball, softball, softball!"

Joel really likes playing. He gets plenty sweaty in this humid heat but I don't think that dampens his enjoyment.

Running to first. I believe he made it.
Sometimes Joel likes to bat left-handed, and sometimes his hits are more solid if he does.

The kids have plenty to do here. Usually there are some girls who love to play and/or take care of my kids during the game. This means I can (somewhat) relax and only have to take care of the baby, so it is a pretty good situation for me. The girls do such a good job with the kids that I would probably play if it wasn't for William. That's ok, though; the rest of the team should be happier with me sticking to the sidelines.

This is why the kids have plenty to do:

Bleachers, to play on our around.

Water--that they are not allowed to touch but that they can throw rocks into.

Flower-picking.

Dirt.

Friends.

Even William has a friend to play with, who is only about six weeks older but moves around like a champ. Someday they'll be rolling around in the dirt together.

The ball games are now tournament games, so we only have a few left. We aren't the best team, but I think everyone who comes has a good time.

Sounds like a great place to live. My parents were in a co-ed softball league in CA. We loved it. WE got to run around- unsupervised and they had fun. It was a lot of fun for all.
The move sounds like it was an amazing decision for you and your family. Glad it turned out really well.
